PIVOT WITH POWER & PURPOSE

A Group Coaching Program for Women in Career Transition

Getting a new job is really hard. Let’s do it together.

One of the hardest parts of looking for a new job is doing it alone. That’s why, for the first time ever, Something Major is convening a coaching cohort program for women in career transition.

Led by Something Major’s Director of Career Coaching, HR expert, and career-purpose-whisperer Johnny Guidry, Pivot With Power & Purpose will empower women to:

  • Achieve clarity: around your drivers, non-negotiables, goals, and how to achieve them; providing real talk (and real strategies) around the challenges you’re likely to face as you pursue them.

  • Create authentic and impactful storytelling: to ensure your resume, LinkedIn profile, and interview answers convey your experience, expertise, potential, and brand; articulating your leadership “legacy” and connecting the dots to your next relevant role.

  • Plan for success: using measurable milestones (the same tool Project Managers rely on to walk complex corporations through massive pivots) to make tangible, meaningful progress towards your goals.

  • Leverage your network: to make smart asks, tell compelling stories, and get your foot in the door and a seat at the table.

  • Benefit from individualized support: in addition to 10 hours of group cohort sessions, participants will receive two 1:1 sessions to help them crystallize their personal goals, workshop their resume, and practice their interview skills; plus unlimited email support from their coach.

Johnny is incredible, the content was relevant, and even better, I gained a group of rockstar women as a sounding board. I absolutely loved the program and wouldn’t change a thing about it

about the program:

Designed for experienced, career-focused professional women: over the course of two months, participants will benefit from over 12 hours of group and one-on-one coaching. Our next cohort kicks off this fall!

  • Week 1: Clarifying Your Path. Some women come to this program not knowing what they want while others know exactly what they want — just not how to get there. Kicking off the cohort, session one will focus on clarifying your career goals and identifying your ideal next step using Johnny’s proprietary “Critical Path” framework.

  • Week 2: Telling a Killer Story, with a Killer Resume. After reviewing thousands upon thousands of resumes over the course of 16 years in HR, Johnny will share his secrets for how you can build a killer resume that tells a killer story about who you are: your legacy, your impact, and your potential.

  • Weeks 3 & 4: Integration Block I and Individualized Career Path & Resume Coaching Session. Across weeks 3 & 4, each member of the cohort will have a private 1:1 coaching session with Johnny to workshop their resume and discuss their career goals/questions. Accompanied by an “Integration Block,” the cohort will be given extra time across weeks 3 & 4 to repurpose the hours spent in group coaching for integrating the tools they’ve learned into their job search (e.g. extra time for updating their resume, working on their career path plans).

  • Week 5: Owning Your Online Brand & Activating Your Network. So much of job searching and networking happens online. In this session Johnny will share best practices for elevating your LinkedIn presence, leveraging recruiters, and activating your network to source jobs. He’ll also share tips for moving through the fears and insecurity many of us have around networking, asking for “favors” or putting ourselves out there in our networks — whether in-person or on LinkedIn.

  • Week 6: Acing Your Interview. Having conducted hundreds of interviews in his HR career, Johnny will walk participants through the essentials for thriving in your next interview: from questions to anticipate, to critical traps to avoid, how to select your best interview stories, and tips for discussing compensation with confidence and clarity.

  • Week 7: Integration Block II and Individualized Interview Bootcamp Session. Following the last week’s Acing Your Interview module, across week 7, each participant will have a fifty-minute coaching session with Johnny for their own 1:1 interview boot camp. Johnny will spend the first 30 minutes interviewing them to assess their strengths and areas for improvement, before sharing the feedback and coaching together on strengths and areas of improvement. The cohort will not meet during week 7, allowing for an additional “Integration Block,” to repurpose the hours spent in group coaching for integrating the tools they’ve learned into their job search (e.g. extra time for scheduling/holding networking, interview practice).

  • Week 8: Pivoting With Power & Purpose: In our final cohort session, participants will integrate their learnings from the program to review their Critical Path plans and leave with concrete next steps.

“After working with Johnny I can intentionally look at potential roles with a different lens: not thinking about them just in terms of clout and salary, but more in terms of how I can excel and be fulfilled and happy. I feel I can live authentically.
