Retreat Agenda at a Glance:

  • Day 1: Kicking off with a welcome at 3:30pm, we’ll spend the afternoon diving into our first “Unlocking the Best of You” workshop: mining “goals gold” from the times when we were at our best to architect our future goals and priorities. With time for informal networking along the way, we’ll enjoy a group welcome dinner that evening.

  • Day 2: Start the morning with (optional) poolside yoga before breakfast. We’ll have two “Unlocking the Best of You” workshops on Day 2: learning how to quiet the voice of self-doubt in the morning and how to cultivate the voice of inner wisdom and confidence in the afternoon. With lunch and a nourishing break between morning and afternoon workshops, attendees will balance meaningful coaching work with a chance for downtime at the pool, beach, or spa. We’ll close Day 2 with another group dinner.

  • Day 3: Starting once again with (optional) poolside yoga and breakfast, Day 3 will feature our final “Unlocking the Best of You” workshop: each participant will synthesize their learnings into a personalized game plan before a group lunch and a completion workshop. The retreat will formally end at 2:00pm, allowing participants to either catch one of the many direct afternoon flights home to all major cities in the US… or book the last flight of the day to enjoy a few final hours at the pool, beach, or spa.

PARTICIPANTS WILL WALK AWAY ENERGIZED AND INSPIRED, WITH A MEANINGFUL GAME PLAN FOR THEIR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GOALS, AND WITH MEANINGFUL NEW RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE WOMEN OF THE RETREAT COHORT

As a two-time participant in Something Major Retreats, I have been equally amazed and impressed by the quality of conversation, instant camaraderie of women from completely different backgrounds, and the ease at which Randi facilitates thought-provoking discussion”

About the Book:

WALL STREET JOURNAL BEST-SELLER

She's changing women's lives, one play at a time.

Women are natural leaders but they've been taught to play the game by an outdated set of rules. So certified executive coach, Randi Braun, wrote them a new playbook.

In Braun's book, Something Major: The New Playbook for Women at Work, women will discover how to play the leadership game on their own terms and win when it comes to achieving their goals: whether it's cracking the code on your self-doubt by ditching perfectionism, external validation, and the tyranny of your inner critic, or learning new tactics for owning your message (don't miss 16 things she forbids you to say at work). Braun's book provides a fresh take on one of the most tremendous challenges of our time: empowering women at work to chart their own course to the top - dialing up confidence and fulfillment, and dialing down burnout in the process.

In Something Major: The New Playbook for Women at Work, Braun takes the field and re-writes the plays of the game. She is a sought-after thought leader, speaker, and CEO of the women's leadership firm, Something Major. Her book delivers stories for today's women leaders in a conversational style that's packed with sage advice and wildly entertaining.

"Pick up this book now Every woman wants to believe she is on the precipice of something major and this book gives you the tools to get yourself there. Randi Braun has created a fun and practical way forward for women who are looking to channel their inner bad-ass, crack the leadership code, and soar "

- Jen Mormile, Chief Business Officer of Condé Nast

Back by popular demand and inspired by how productive the group was: join women's leadership coach and WSJ best-selling author, Randi Braun, on Friday, February 16th for an afternoon of virtual co-working, from 2:30-4:30pm ET. Registration is free. Learn more or sign up below.

Let's come together and co-work to:

  1. Finally do that project you've been procrastinating

  2. Dedicate work time to that thing that must get off your desk by the end of the week/month

  3. Carve out the time to take care of a personal task you've been dreading and just need a little bit of accountability on

  4. Dedicate time to a personal project you are excited to jump into, and just haven’t had the time to work on

How it works:

  • Log on at 4:30pm ET to join other women who want to work quietly and independently, while having the accountability of dedicated work time and the community support to bring a task over the finish line (Pro Tip: this is casual, so if you log on late, don't sweat it).

  • Randi will kick us off with a few words of inspiration for how to use the time before we move into heads-down work time.

  • We'll work for approx. 45 minutes before taking an optional stretch break (did you know that research shows small breaks like that actually make you more focused, creative and productive?) before settling into a second work block.

  • Before we part ways at 4:30pm ET, Randi will close us out with a few final ideas for keeping the momentum going.

Who should join?

  • Women looking to get something done, who feel inspired by the accountability and support of co-working in community with each other.

  • Note: Something Major is a coaching firm and community dedicated to advancing women in the workplace. We invite all women and folx of underrepresented genders to join us for a morning of focus-time.

How to prepare:

  • All you need to do is log on with something to work on.

  • Don't worry about dressing up: sweatpants are encouraged and you can prepare to be off-camera the entire time.

Please be in touch with any questions. See you there!

Sweat & Reset: A Women's Leadership Workshop & Workout

Kick off the new year with an afternoon of women's leadership development, working out, and networking.

Hosted by executive coach and WSJ best-selling author, Randi Braun, join SWEAT AND RESET on Friday, January 26th from 1:30-4:30pm.

This isn't just a "group fitness class." SWEAT & RESET is an afternoon of women's leadership development, working out, and networking with other women who share a similar goal of making 2024 a strong and satisfying year!

We'll kick off the New Year with a workshop on "Reimagining Productivity," before taking one of Barre3's empowering, for-all-levels workout classes, with networking along the way.

Participants can expect to walk away with:

  • An understanding of the "Three Productivity Traps" that keep high-performing women stressed out and hustling against a never-ending to-do list

  • Strategies for resetting from the "Productive Mindset" to the "Impactful Mindset"

  • New tools you can apply to work immediately upon returning to your office, to decrease exhaustion and increase impactfulness

  • Workshop content is adapted from both Braun's Wall Street Journal best-selling book, Something Major: The New Playbook for Women at Work, as well as from the work she does with her coaching clients, so expect to walk away with tactical strategies

  • In addition to these robust professional development takeaways, participants can expect to have a great workout (suitable for all levels) and enjoy an afternoon of different-in-kind networking

"Attending [one of Randi's] events is the investment in yourself and your wellbeing that you didn’t know you needed."

I look forward to continuing to reach out to other women as well, thanks again!"

FAQs

Will I walk away with anything tangible?

YES! Per the above, you will walk away with new tools you can use to reimagine "productivity" in your workflow: equipping yourself with new strategies to be more efficient, impactful, and fulfilled at work-- and less exhausted as we kick off a new year.

Why SWEAT AND RESET?

For years, clients have been raving about the magic of Braun's retreats, which offer a combination of women's leadership development, wellness activities, and networking. SWEAT AND RESET takes the best of what clients love about retreats but remixes the format: offering "fan favorites" at a fraction of the time commitment and cost.

Who should come?

This event is designed for experienced, career-focused professional women -- whether you're a leader in your organization, an entrepreneur, a woman in career transition, or a community mover-and-shaker -- looking to enjoy an afternoon of professional development, networking, and working out.

What is Barre3 and how do I know if I'll like the class?

About the class: Barre3 is a full-body workout combining strength, cardio, and mindfulness. This class is suitable for all levels.

Why we chose it: For years, Braun struggled with her own relationship to her body and to fitness: she fell in love with Barre3 years ago when she finally found a workout that empowered clients to honor and love their bodies, instead of just trying to "make them smaller" like so many others.

Something for everyone: If you're looking to get your sweat on, you've come to the right place! Similarly, if you have injuries or are brand new, the Barre3 signature way of teaching is to offer modifications for every single pose. This class has something for everyone.

What should I wear?

Fitness apparel. We'll be spending the afternoon in a workout studio so come comfortably.

What if I can only come for part of the day?

Participants who can join the whole afternoon will get the most out of SWEAT AND RESET. If you know you have to come late or leave early to accommodate a standing meeting or another commitment, we recommend you come to another event so you can gain the full ROI on your investment If you do join us, tell work/clients you're at a professional development event for the rest of the day and set that auto-responder!

Wait, do you think work could reimburse me for my ticket?

Maybe! About half of our participants for Something Major events are employer-sponsored, while half are self-sponsored. Feel free to email Braun at randi@somethingmajorcoaching.com for her customizable email template for asking work to reimburse your ticket. Pro tip if your self-employed: talk to your accountant about whether you can write this off as a professional development expense.

Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to come, you may transfer your ticket to a friend or colleague.

What if I have more questions?

Ask away! You can email Braun at randi@somethingmajorcoaching.com

High-Power High Tea

  • InterContinental the Willard Washington D.C., an IHG Hotel (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

You’re invited on Friday, September 22 as we remix an iconic DC tradition — tea time at The Willard.

Please join Wall Street Journal best-selling author, Something Major founder, and executive coach Randi Braun for the inaugural Something Major: High-Power High Tea: an afternoon of networking, women's leadership inspiration and (of course) tea.

Gather with other women leaders for an afternoon of connection and conversation:

  • Mix & Mingle. Check in at 1pm and enjoy a glass of champagne (or sparkling water), as you network with an intimate group of attendees.

  • Women’s Leadership Fireside Chat with Jen Mormile, Entrepreneur & Immediate Past Chief Business Officer of Condé Nast. Join the conversation as event host, Randi Braun, interviews Jen Mormile. They’ll discuss Jen’s journey and her insights into what being a “successful” leader really means: whether it’s building teams that break barriers with their creativity and connectivity, or how to crush business goals while balancing being a strong and empathetic leader.

  • Tea Time. Following our fireside chat, we’ll sit down to The Willard’s famous afternoon tea service, networking in one of DC’s most historic “room where it happens.”

"Thank you so much, Randi, for hosting such a wonderful event. I’ve been to so many networking events that can be intimidating or are not actually productive in building meaningful connections. Join us as we celebrate the power of what happens when women come together during this inspiring afternoon of networking.

UWIB DC: The New Playbook for Women at Work

Join UWIB and Randi Braun, Author of Something Major: The New Playbook for Women at Work, as she shares her tips for cracking the leadership code and building a work life you love.

She’s changing women’s lives, one play at a time.

Women are natural leaders but they’ve been taught to play the game by an outdated set of rules. So certified executive coach, Randi Braun, wrote them a new playbook.

In Braun’s book, Something Major: The New Playbook for Women at Work, women will discover how to play the leadership game on their own terms and win when it comes to achieving their goals: whether it’s cracking the code on your self-doubt by ditching perfectionism, external validation, and the tyranny of your inner critic, or learning new tactics for owning your message (don’t miss 16 things she forbids you to say at work). Braun’s book provides a fresh take on one of the most tremendous challenges of our time: empowering women at work to chart their own course to the top — dialing up confidence and fulfillment, and dialing down burnout in the process.

Hosted by Something Major Founder and certified women’s leadership coach, Randi Braun, we're thrilled to be back at The Four Seasons for an experience that past attendees have described as "absolutely perfect," "transformational" and "exactly what I needed."

Join us on Friday, May 6th for Realign & Recharge: A Something Major Women’s Leadership Retreat at The Four Seasons Hotel & Spa in Georgetown.

Last year our two retreats sold out and this year we will only run Realign & Recharge once, with brand new content on our 2022 theme of Reimagining Wellbeing, Leadership & Longevity. We're excited to spend this time with you once again and read on for more information about this different-in-kind women's leadership experience.

Sign up or learn more about the day’s agenda, cost, and FAQs below.

Retreat Agenda:

AM: Realigning Mind & Body

  • Coffee & Connect: We'll begin the day with an opportunity to network with other participants over coffee and light refreshments.

  • Welcome & Reimagining Wellbeing, Leadership & Longevity Workshop by Randi Braun: Our wellbeing is critical-- especially when we feel too busy to prioritize it in our stretched-too-thin-work-lives. In this workshop, you will learn the four self care myths (and how to overcome them) that keep high-performing women running on fumes; as well as build an individualized game plan for investing in your leadership and longevity by prioritizing your wellbeing.

  • Nourishing Vinyasa Flow Yoga: After realigning our minds, we’ll realign our body with a nourishing vinyasa flow yoga class. This class is suitable for all levels.

PM: Recharging Our Spirit

  • Lunch & Wine Tasting: To recharge our spirits, following yoga we’ll sit down for a delicious lunch accompanied by a wine tasting with The Four Seasons’ own sommelier.

  • Dessert Tasting & Closing Remarks: We'll end the day with a final chance to connect over coffee and a leisurely dessert tasting, followed by closing remarks from Randi.

Attire: Keeping it casual and relaxed, leggings/yoga clothes are required. Ponytails are not required, but strongly encouraged.

Cost:

  • Standard Registration: $595/person

  • Work Wives Discount: Registration is reduced to $550/person when you sign up with a work wife. Past retreats have featured mentor/mentee pairs, bosses and their HI-PO, girlfriends, and even sisters.

Pro Tip #1 - Ask Your Employer to Sponsor Your Seat: About 50% of our 2021 participants had their employer sponsor their participation as a leadership development and/or networking experience. Reach out for a copy of our Business Case Kit if you’re interested in learning more about how your employer might sponsor your participation as a leadership development and/or networking experience (randi@somethingmajorcoaching.com).

Pro Tip # 2 - Reduced Rate for Overnighting at The Four Seasons: For those coming from out of town, or for local Washingtonians who are looking for a reason to indulge, we have a room block available at the extremely discounted rate of $450/night for both Thursday, 5/5 and Friday, 5/6 (Note: rooms typically start at $1,100/night). Rooms are first-come-first-served and must be booked after registration is completed. So, if you know you plan to overnight, please email Randi Braun at randi@somethingmajorcoaching.com as soon as you register. Of course, overnighting at The Four Seasons is 100% optional.

Quieting Our Inner Critic

Quieting Our Inner Critic

If you've ever told yourself some version of this story, "I'm really hard on myself but it's what makes me successful," we need to chat...

Why are we so hard on ourselves? And is it helping or hurting our performance at work?

We all have an inner critic. It keeps our brain buzzing with chatter about why we’re not good enough, why we might fail or be rejected, and how others will view us... and it's exhausting!

While self-awareness is important, we run into problems when our inner critic becomes too chatty. Or, when we can’t distinguish between the inner critic’s version of the story and the truth.

Join executive coach, Randi Braun, for a workshop on how to quiet your inner critic. Participants will learn tools for:

  • Identifying your inner critic

  • Rethinking self-awareness and checking yourself on whether you’re hearing the "inner critic" or the "voice of reason"

  • Learning tools for how to quiet your inner critic (and avoiding the pitfalls that don't work)
